Removing soap scum, and hard water deposits is easy if you understand basic chemistry. Soap scum, and hard water deposits are alkaline by nature. An acid based cleaner, or a product with characteristics of an acid will easily remove soap scum, and mineral deposits. Understand you can’t use just any acid to remove this soil. Vinegar is an acid , but won’t stay on the wall long enough to do any good. Soap scum cleaners usually have thickening agents to keep it on the wall long enough to give the acid time to work.
